Request access to the Ottawa rent report
Tell us who you are and what the report is for. FairRent reads every request before anything is invoiced.
Who may buy it
FairRent may sell reports and access to grouped rent statistics to governments, public agencies, unions and universities for approved work that supports renters. The work must support renters, and FairRent decides whether it does.
Read these first. They bind every buyer:
- We do not sell reports, data or private access to landlords, property managers or anyone acting for them.
- We do not allow our paid reports or data to be used for pricing rental homes, planning rent increases, screening tenants, identifying renters or targeting evictions.
- We never sell individual rent submissions.
An eligible institution with a purpose these rules exclude is still refused.
After you send it
- FairRent reads the request and decides whether the institution and its purpose are eligible.
- If they are, FairRent and your institution make a written agreement before anything is delivered. Our terms of use say: Paid reports and private statistical access are available only through a separate agreement with an eligible government, public agency, union or university. A paid report or private access can include figures FairRent adapts from CMHC and Statistics Canada data. Every agreement passes on the conditions of the licences those figures are used under, and the buyer accepts them. The agreement also holds your institution to the rules above and to our limits on sharing the report with others.
- Before an access code is sent, your institution, its purpose, what it receives and the restrictions are listed on our transparency page. See the transparency page.
- Then we send an invoice to the email you gave. Once it is paid, we send an access code that opens one edition of the report.
A paid report cannot be delivered yet, and this is why: the licence for rent submissions from renters rests on the terms of use and has not yet been settled for paid use; no signed disclosure review covers this release. This is a decision FairRent has to record before it can sell; there is no date yet.
While this is so, FairRent records each request and answers it, but sends no invoice.
Nothing is charged on this site.
