How FairRent is funded and how reports are used
Renters come first. This page explains how FairRent can earn money without selling you out.

Paid reports
FairRent may earn revenue from reports, research and access to grouped rent statistics for governments, public agencies, unions and universities.
These products contain combined figures and analysis. Buyers do not receive individual rent submissions or access to the raw submission database.
FairRent may earn a profit from this work. Payment cannot change our methods, scores or findings.
Who we do not sell to
We do not sell reports, data or private access to landlords, property managers or anyone acting for them.
An institution must also have an eligible purpose. Being a government, union or university does not make every proposed use acceptable.
Protecting renters
Before delivering a paid report, we will check whether the information may be used for that purpose and whether the figures could expose a renter.
A minimum group size is one safeguard. It does not guarantee privacy on its own. We may combine areas or time periods, remove details or withhold figures.
Buyers must agree to our restrictions on use and onward sharing.
Public information
Our public pages can be read by anyone. We cannot promise that a landlord will never read them. We do not provide landlords with paid reports, private access or pricing tools.

Before providing a paid report or private statistical access, we will list the institution, the project's purpose, the information it receives and the applicable restrictions here.
