FairRent helps renters understand how their rent compares with local estimates.
Estimates come from CMHC, Statistics Canada and rent submissions from renters. Each source measures something different.
The FairRent Score compares price. It does not rate your landlord, the condition of your home or whether your rent is lawful.
The same tenant protections apply to free and paid work.
Our promise to renters
Renters come first.
We never sell individual rent submissions.
- Checking your rent and reading our public neighbourhood pages will stay free.
- We may charge governments, public agencies, unions and universities for reports and analysis based on grouped rent statistics.
- We do not sell reports, data or private access to landlords, property managers or anyone acting for them.
- We do not allow our paid reports or data to be used for pricing rental homes, planning rent increases, screening tenants, identifying renters or targeting evictions.
- Paying FairRent cannot change a score or a finding.
