Step 2 of 2 · Vancouver change city
Share your rent and see how it compares
Use the rent you pay, or a listing you are comparing. No name, email or account is needed.
What is this rent?
Only rent you pay is added to the data. A listing is compared and nothing is stored.
Tick this if none of the names fit or you are not sure. Your rent is then compared with the whole of Vancouver and is not added to any neighbourhood figure.
You do not need to know who owns the building. Pick the closest match.
Enter the total rent for the home before splitting it with roommates.Enter what you pay for your room alone.
Monthly rent in Canadian dollars, before any deductions. Cents are fine, for example 1999.50. Rents between $500 and $8,000 are compared right away; other amounts are kept for a review first.
Usually this month. Change it if you are reporting a rent you paid earlier.
Leave the year out if you do not remember. The estimate still works; it just will not include rent increase context.
Optional details
Is parking included in the rent?
If yes, $250 is added to the comparison estimate.
Are utilities (heat, electricity, water) included in the rent?
If yes, $120 is added to the comparison estimate.

Leave it blank if you are not sure. We never treat a skipped question as a no. These are standard adjustments used by FairRent. They are not the measured value of your parking or utilities.

Did you sign or renew a lease at this rent in the last 12 months?
This helps separate recently signed rents from longer tenancies.
Do you have your own bathroom?
If you give the size, we compare the rent per square foot. A size in square metres is converted. The size is stored with your submission.
How do you know the size?
Optional, and you can leave it blank. We ask because a discounted, furnished or subsidised home, or a home shared with the landlord, is a different market from an ordinary rent, and mixing them makes the estimate for your area worse. Leaving it blank means we do not know, and we never take it to mean an ordinary market rent.
The code is shown once on your result. It opens this one report and nothing else. We keep only a scrambled version of it, so we cannot send it to you again.
What happens when you share your rent

Your submission helps build grouped rent statistics. We never publish or sell individual submissions. We may offer paid reports to governments, public agencies, unions and universities under our tenant protections. Read how your submission may be used.

If you asked for a private code above, we keep a scrambled version of it with your submission so you can update, confirm or remove that one submission later.
